Welcome to history section of the owner of DTTR LLC, Douglas Wallace. It has been a long and incredible journey. Sitting down and writing about my past experiences has allowed me to really relive some great moments in my past. I really feel confident that my past experiences have allowed myself to gain everything that is needed to provide proven results in projects on a consistent basis. So I invite you to continue reading the information below and thank you for taking your time to check out our website.
In the Early 2000’s I was very fortunate to have allot of great support around me in the automotive industry. I had graduated high school in 1999 and was extremely interested in the car scene. Something drew me to the Japanese and European car manufactures. The quality, the style, the sound and the performance just hooked me in and I never looked back. I dove immediately into the Honda, Toyota and Subaru street modification scene. Having great mentors like Toby Broadfield of Broadfield Customs and Paul Tietjens a Master Honda mechanic which were both of my mentors. Along with all of my Odorless car group of friends allowed me to develop the right skills to begin my car enthusiast passion in the right direction.
In the mid 2000’s I was working full-time for the city and I had started a business named Jagged Racing. It specialized in the modification of Japanese and European cars. This is when I started my travels overseas to Japan and really started to understand the difference in the modification standards of all the different form of the automotive industry. I started in import more performance parts from overseas and started to team up with local sources to provide better product lines that were custom from each project I was involved with. After some great success I teamed with Mike Ranta to form R&D Auto. Mike was doing the same sort of business but was very focused on his production of Honda H22 fabricated product line, building engines and being a franchised partner for DPR that performed cylinder head port and polishing. I learned allot about forming business relationships with Mike and I’m very grateful. This was also the time I was very involved with engine tuning with Hondata, Electromotive and AEM ECUs.
During the late 2000’s I was involved with testing prototype testing parts for the Honda Fit when it was release in 2007 in the United States. Testing parts from J’s Racing, Alex Motorsports, T1R and Spoon Sports was an excellent time of my life that lead me in the direction to working for Gelles Racing. Based in Virgina Gellas Racing was a Formula BMW and Formula Atlantic team that was trying to get into Champ Car. I was called by the team’s chief principal because of a recommendation from Shawn Lane which now owns Synergy Composites. This was a great opportunity in learning the advanced techniques of chassis and suspension tuning, being a mechanic on multiple styles of open wheel race cars and how to work with composite materials. I returned home to the Midwest after Gelles Racing closed the doors but was able to assist with many local SCCA drivers and car setups. I continued helping people on the side of my full-time career building street and race cars.
2010 - 2013
These are definitely the most important years of my life. Becoming a father and working in management for Advance Auto Parts in the commercial industry. Having to not only manage employees, provide the most quality customer service but maintain and increase commercial sales for a Fortune 500 company. This was key in helping to finish my confidence in providing another great aftermarket performance parts and tuning company. By learning how a large scale parts provider operates I was able to source out new services and product lines to customers. This was key in the ever changing automotive market and understanding that quality over quantity is even more important in this highly out sourced era in the automotive community.
Currently I’m still employed with Advance Auto Part as a manager in their commercial sales department. I have taken on the opportunity to finally open DTTR LLC to offer a completely one of a kind experience that can only be describe by having excellence in quality products and service.
